I prefer the 4l80 over the 6l80 transmissions. So if it were me, if keep the 4l80e in place.
You need motor mount adapters to keep your 95 mounts.
Factory manifolds fit those frames just need a y pipe made to fit.

On the L96 engines, they tend to have oil pressure issues. So first thing I would do is replace the o ring on the oil pickup tube and install a melling 10355 oil pump.

Depending on the mileage I'd even check cam bearings for wear.

Are you going to use the E38 ECM to run the engine?

E38 will be the ECM thats in the 2011 truck. But you will need a T42 TCM to control the 4L80E and then get an appropriate ECM Operating system to communicate with the T42 correctly.

Also you will need the accelerator pedal out of the 2011 to control the throttle body.
I dont remember what fuel pump is in the 1995 but it wouldnt hurt to go ahead and put a better pump in. Deatshcwerks 9-201-0883 is $100 and will support plenty of power for a NA L96.

Yep, GM built alot of Express vans with the Gen IV 6.0L and 4L80E. I am sure there are others as well.

Then again problems aside, the 6spd really helps make up for the LS lack of torque. That 4:1 first gear gets them up into their power quickly. However like the 4L60E the ratio spread is not the greatest. I prefer a stalled 4L80E to a 6spd. My high STR stock diameter converter stalls about 2,850 rpm and even with 3.73s it gets up and goes.

The van pedal hangs straight down from the body of the pedal. Its a little easier to work with in a conversion situation.

FWIW the donor should have a 6L90, not a 6L80, assuming it came from a 3/4 ton, and I'm thinking it is.

if one uses the 6 speed, does it match the existing transfer case and drive shafts?

6L80 has a 32 spline output like a 4L80, 6L90 had a 29 spline output line an Allison.
