The Standard Motor Product FJ504 is less expensive and still available. Acdelco 217-3029 can still be had but quite a bit more. Looking to upgrade, at least get one to have on hand. I’ve also heard from some it’s same part, different box. Any long term reviews on the SMP? Also, can anyone confirm where the AcDelco is manufactured?

I looked for information on the Ultra-Power but found nothing.

I worked at a parts store that sold standard parts… meh we had regular warranty returns.

I bought my delco spider on amazon for cheap… 5 years ago

Isn’t SMP a supplier to Acdelco, at least for some parts?

That I’m not sure about, we carried delco, motor craft and mopar. SMP was our “house brand” and BWS was our higher end line for sensors and such besides the name brands for “the big 3”

Similarly, is there any story behind this "Ultrapower" version that's on RockAuto?

ULTRA-POWER FJ504

The ACDelco part wasn't active on RA's site.
I looked a little deeper and found more info on Ultra-Power. They are just a parts wholesale distributor. When you get a part from them it’s in the original box with their sticker on it. Being part #FJ504 I’m pretty sure it going to be a Standard Motor Products. Yes, I know there’s plenty of much cheaper knock-offs that use SMP’s #, but those mostly sell for about $150.00 or less. I ordered one. It’s possible, but unlikely I could get an Acdelco. I’m pretty confident it’s going to be an SMP and $78.00 cheaper. Worst case scenario it is garbage, I’ll send it back and lose shipping cost. I’ll let you all know. Here is the link to the actual company.

Standard Products are often re-boxed OEM. The 6.2L Ford flex fuel injectors I have in my marine intake are Standard products. They missed scratching the FoMoCo label off 2 or 3 of them. Same goes for the Hitachi MAF I bought for the 2011 Pathfinder when the IAT died in it. The Hitachi MAF had the Nissan part number scratched off it. The Hitachi LS3 MAF is the same one GM dealers sell for multiple times more money. The NEW $100 Autozone Hitachi power steering pump I put on the G35 was the same unit that Infiniti and Nissan dealers charge $700 for. The Standard products knock sensor on my 383 was made by Delphi. The more you can educate yourself on parts the better quality you can get for your $$$. Standard Products, Hitachi and Delphi are typically very good quality.

Last I checked the Genuine GM, Delphi and Standard Products spiders were all the same piece and in the same plastic packaging. Supply chain may have driven the products down other paths, no idea there. At one time 2-3 years ago they were the exact same products. AC Delco is a distributor, not a manufacturer for the most part. Delphi, NGK or NTK and others make parts for AC Delco.

The last new starter I bought was a Remy for a LS. They make the starters for GM.

Which is why I ordered what I ordered. I’m confident it’s going to be a Standard Motor Products part. I don’t believe the actual injectors on the SMP will be the Delphi injectors, pretty sure SMP manufacture their own. We shall see Thursday.

Ultra-Power order arrived today. Ultra-Power order shipping back tomorrow! I took a chance after reading through a few forums where guys were saying they were getting SMP, FoMoCo and AcDelco parts in OEM boxes with only Ultra-Power sticker on box. Not what I got, actually since Ultra-Power doesn’t manufacture I don’t even know what I got. All parts were only in UP packaging. It could be a SMP spider, but I don’t know. I thought I’d get parts in their OEM boxes and at least I’d know what brand it was. I won’t order UP brand again. Lost shipping cost but I knew that was the risk.
Ordered the Delphi which is the manufacturer of the AcDelco 217-3029.
