Could be the rockers. My Z06 sometimes sounds like a sewing machine and there's nothing wrong with it.
Do you have upgraded trunnion bearings in the rockers? I changed the oil and had a few cylinders ticking for a few minutes after starting. It got quiet except for the one tick I've been hearing. Definitely valvetrain related.

No aftermarket upgrade, but being an 04 it is different than the earlier design that GM used. I'm not sure what year it was that they changed that.

My LS swapped Z28 is the same way, with the fast ramp rates and high lift of the cam, it sounds like a sewing machine. The headers only amplify the sound...thicker cast manifolds help mitigate the noise.

The thing is though, I've put 12,000 miles on this engine with all new valvetrain (rockers, rocker bearings, springs, lifters, etc.), and it just started making the ticking a couple weeks ago before I quit driving it. You would think it would have done this much sooner if it were just normal for my setup.

Pulled the intake to start disassembly of the top end. Went ahead and test fitted my Whipple while the intake was off to see what kind of clearance issues I should expect. Looks like it will be pretty simple to sort out thankfully!

I replaced all of the lifters Friday and Saturday with a set of Morel 7717 lifters. Fired it up Saturday evening and no more ticking! I also polished the radiator tanks from where coolant had stained them, replaced the broken drain petcock, replaced the drivers upper ball joint (the other 3 are still tight with 325k original miles on them), shimmed my tensioner pulley, and repaired the electric fan bracket.

I thought I recognized your Suburban on Amazon, lol, glad they finally have those headlights back in stock, I was a bit worried they wouldn't be back in stock so soon when they sold out of them on the trial run.

I scored a console I have been hunting for quite a while. The Escalade console lid finally broke on me Friday right before I found this LT2 console on marketplace for a steal, and in the right color. I need to make some modifications to make it fit, but it is the right height and has improved storage and cupholders over the Escalade console.
