Where's the water getting in at?? That's a huge problem because if water is getting in, fuel vapor will get out.

Also as long as the return line enters the pan below the level it exits the turbo you're good. How much drop isn't important, you just don't want it to gravity feed back into the housing.

I think it has to be the filler cap. The protective cap on the vent line was cracked but I can't see that much water getting in through such a small hole.

The cell has to be vented or it will pressurize and either leak or prevent fuel from returning/flowing.

Agreed, but you can plumb the vent somewhere. I think a leaking filler cap assembly is an explosion waiting to happen.

Definitely don't want that.

I'm wondering if I should get some Heet or E85 to get all the water out. I've got it airing out now.

I don't want to destroy all these new and expensive(!!!) components by running water through them.

If you can easily remove the fuel cell I would bring it into an environment where it will dry thoroughly. Probably not necessary, so more for peace of mind than anything else, but still...

Fuel system about 2/3 done. I was a couple fittings short and the whole watery fuel cell situation didn't help.

I read somewhere the NHRA does not allow fuel stuff to mounted to the firewall so the feed is off to the side.

Also they don't allow fuel lines to be run by the bellhousing unless they are protected by conduit of some thickness, so I ran mine on the outside of the frame. Kinda seems less safe in a wreck, but it was a lot easier. Still missing some nuts to fully bolt down the pump.

Also, I picked up an LS1 F-body belt tensioner and used a leftover spacer from something and it seems pretty close to the right stick out for the truck water pump with motor plate. Need to get the right length belt and another spacer or stack of washers.

F it. I ordered a new fuel cell. On the plus side I get 4 more gallons and all -10 inlets and outlets.

I'm at that stage where I really don't care what it costs anymore. This MFer is getting done. LOL.
That's the spirit! Full speed ahead and damn the torpedoes...

As the owner of a 1971 Dodge D100 I applaud you for what you've done with this truck. I have a soft spot for swepty's and love to see them around. I need to get my truck to the new house and get back to working on it. Someday soon hopefully.

If you have water sitting on the filler cap, it's going to find a way in. Kinda like how if you cut a hole in your hood, any water that pools on top of the motor will be in the oil pan shortly. You need some kind of cover over the fuel cell if it's going to be sitting outside.

This is just an exercise in frustration now. I am 1 foot short of hose to be able to finish my fuel system.
