really? go to a shop and get a price on replacing ball joints, tie rods, idler arms, pitman arms, center link, and alignment, thats all been done three times in 200k. then add in cvs and actuators here and there . as stated before, I use my truck like a truck, it needs to be low enough to have the bed be usefull and pull trailers and fit in the garage and drive good down the highway. ive had trucks on 40s and loved them but they don't fall into that category.
Iv got about $6500 in brand new front end cv axles all new upgraded rotors pads master cylinder and booster, steering box etc. All done by mechanics because i work overtime every week and dont have time to do it myself. I haven't even touched a mud hole. guess what? Cv axle boots are busted already and popping. First chance I get my hands on a dana 44 iam swapping because shops love it when an ifs pulls in...

I know this thread is old, but recently revived. Here's mine on 37's. SuperDuty 60 on 2003 SuperDuty springs. I did another 97 Burb using the Chevy 73_87 springs and it rode like a tank, but I think the weight if the Cummins might have had alot to do with that.

Stock 47s, 4 leave HD with bottom removed. At least now the suspension actually moves. Before it didn’t budge. Haven’t driven it yet, been bout a year since outta the garage. About 3-4” of lift with 33s. Rear has a 3” block n sits real close to level.

They make link/coil kits for the NBS trucks thats only 3" of lift. It can be done, its just not common with leaf springs like people usually do on our trucks.

I’d say a 4wd. With a 2wd gotta hack the crap outa the crossmember. The need to add t-case, level the rear, etc. I did a 2wd to 4wd 89 crew cab. Wasn’t necessarily hard, but it’s nearly impossible to find a factory 4wd crew cab.

Ahh, hadn't thought about that pesky cross member.
