Something tells me that this have been asked manny times [emoji89] Trying to search but got like 300+ hits
So I'm taking my th700 from my v6 and puting it behind my rebuild 305. I recal reading about some recalibration kit when you fit a v6 tranny behind a v8....or can I run it as is?

The V-6 trans probably has fewer clutch plates in the drums.

I'd expect valve body and governor differences.

It'll "work", but it won't have the torque capacity like a trans made for a V-8.

All it takes to fix that is a rebuild to V-8 specs.

I put a V-6 Astro trans into a '76 Nova. Worked fine except for the crappy aftermarket torque converter clutch switch system.

I believe there is a difference internally between the 700R4 V/6 & V/8

I used the V/6 converter & 700R4 transmission when I switched to V/8

Mine worked as expected before I switched to a TH350

Worked great in my Nova for over a year, driving 60+ miles to work round-trip, mostly at plaid speed...until I parked it on the street, and a pizza-delivery guy ran into it.

Sold the car to a fellow a couple towns over; his plan was to take the engine, trans and subframe for some hot-rod he was building.

But the Nova is a light car, not a full-size truck; and I never towed anything or loaded the trunk with heaps of dead weight.

Mine held up fine, actually towed my racecar with it one season.

The V6 converter helped with a little bit of stall.

TH350 worked better for my application since I'm not worried about OD or gas mileage
