Is urs 6 or 8 lug? Assuming 8 lug, not much difference. Rear axle, rear brakes, leave pack might have another leave, but not too much else. A 6 lug is totally different...

2500 8 lug can be full floating axles or semi floating. 3500 should be full floating axle. I had a 2500 Burb that had the semi floating axle, basically a larger version of the old GM trucks 12 bolt. But I've seen 400 Burbs and trucks with either axle, it depends on how the truck was ordered originally. Also depends on what engine you have. 6.5 diesel and 7.4 gas are more likely to be the FF. 5.7 more likely to be the SF on a 2500 unless it was ordered with a FF. My CCLB has a FF even though it's a 5.7, because it's a 3500.

8-lug to 8-lug, the differences are mostly incremental. Same basic leaf springs, though the 3500 does get the overload leaf option due to the increased weight ratings. A 2500 can get a small block, big block, or diesel like the 1 ton, semi float or full float axles.

The reason for the existence of the 2500 is a heavy duty truck that is able to tow/haul but stay under 10,000 GVWR. 10,001 and over requires the truck to submit to weigh stations, and pay highway use taxes.

3500 could also get a small block

Yeah, I said that:
"A 2500 can get a small block, big block, or diesel like the 1 ton"

1 ton means 3500...

Edit: Though I'll say this: I've never seen a GMT400 3500 with a 305.
Square bodies had inline 6's, Express vans could get the 4.3, but the 305 was absent from the lineup that I've seen

Yeah I saw a handrail at the hamburger place we are at the other day, if I had a chain I could have pulled it up straight easily.
