Today at the junk yard i came across a 2001 express van and a 2002 GMC savanna, are both of these already programmed for the 5.7 vortec. I dont know what my future plans are but i grabbed both incase one doesnt work

Maybe. There were other optional engines in those years I think. Its pretty easy to flash the right OS on them if they aren't already set up right.
