Hey guys, before I put this engine back together in my garage I noticed something in the bottom of the cylinder. Take a look at the pic. I'm hoping it's just a ridge from the factory and not a crack, any ideas on what I should do? I really don't want to be taking apart the shortblock.

act like you never saw it.... if it is a crack you'll need a new block/pistons anyway, might as wait til it needs a rebuild or fails completely.

If you do disassemble it to verify the crack, you may as well rebuild/replace it at that point.

The way it looks to me is your oil ring is not scraping that side of the wall.... that straight line going up and down the cylinder, clean hone on one side, brown on the other.. does not look right. Have you done a compression test on it?

Disregard that... looks thats just where your piston skirt is riding. I would not worry about that. Probably not a crack and its below your piston ring travel.
