Fog light stuff:

If you have these prongs in the black terminal, you are already prewired for fog lights, or that's what I have determined anyway.

Intake gasket finally blew at 262k miles, but look how clean the inside of the motor is:

I got bored and decided the engine needed some detailing:

Distributor gave me fits, so I opted for OEM parts to replace the cheap parts store ones on it:

You have definately put a lot of work into your truck so far. Nice job and thanks for the pictures. Sometimes looking at other trucks gives me idea's on what I could do with mine. I have 2. Both 1996 Chevy 1500. One is a K1500 but its a work truck with no air? I'm going to sell that one. The other is a C1500 with 5.7 Just needs a lot of love and parts to make it nice again.

Yeah all these trucks need love anymore, and I study other builds for ideas as well. My old 94 k1500 I had an easy $40k counting everything I ended up doing to it.

I use to own a boat at one time. And they say "a boat is nothing more that a hole in the water in which you pour money into" Well I'm pretty sure my these Chevy OBS trucks are a good runner up for spending money on. But I'm having fun....

5.3 I got from a pick n pull earlier this year. I stripped it far enough to replace the high mileage items, seeing as the motor has 280k miles. Replaced the cam with a sloppy stage two, along with the corresponding valve springs pac1218’s. I did swap out the valve guides and seals, I mean for $28 why not?

I got a new water pump with thermostat and water outlet as a kit from rock auto. The kit itself wasn’t much more than just the pump alone, and I was looking at replacing the thermostat anyway.

I was replacing the oil pan gasket and I cracked the **** out of my oil pan. I didn’t understand there was a particular order to torque the bolts down, as I had never had an aluminum oil pan before. So now that I understand this, I got another one from the junkyard for $55, anywhere else brand new was double or triple what spent for a used one. I went ahead and replaced the oil pump HV295 as well, also from rock auto, just as a precaution.

I did opt for new LS7 lifters $130 and pushrods, pushrods were $30 for 16 new ones, figured hell why not. I got new lifter trays from Amazon supposed to be a genuine GM part, at least that’s what the bag said.
