I'm getting closer to betting my money on a bad/clogged/?? bank 2 catalytic converter because cylinders 2,4,6, and 8 are the only ones with the substantial misfires and now the common denominator is the exhaust.

Um, I don't think so, but I may be wrong. On a bad catalytic converter I think you just get a efficiency code or something like that. Remember, the cats are for emissions. The downstream O2s are to measure that the cats are "working" and doing the chemical reaction magic. Some guys get rid of cats and remove downstream O2s because of this.

IF the cat is clogged, truck will not really run at all. I mean, it will be a turtle. I helped my nephew diagnose his S-10 w/ 4.3 Vortec (same truck I mentioned earlier, Haha!) It took my nephew, my BIL and me to figure it out. At idle everything seemed "okay" on the sensors side. But driving, it started overheating just around the block and would not accelerate even on gas pedal on the floor.

He just cut them off and kept trukin.

The cats in it now are 'from Flow master'.
I knew one cat was bad as it developed a rattle.
They need replaced anyway.
If the cheapo's work until I get better ones I'm good.

When I see elderly filters that still look good, I assume they look good because they're not actually filtering-out (stopping) the garbage. The dreck, particles, etc. are passing-through the filter like it wasn't there.

Pipe tapped and plugged old downstream o2 sensor bung that broke off. New cats have built in bung.

Ok, new cat in on bank 2, new fuel filter, new downstream o2, new mpfi with all new gaskets, brake booster vacuum leak repaired, injector balance test performed for good measure.
These are all good repairs as they were going to need done anyway.
We'll see......

Looks like #4 is the winner... what's that plug look like? Compression reading? Leak down test? Maybe try swapping the knock sensor from left to right as well. If all of a sudden you get the knock moving over to the other bank when you change sensors... you have a bad knock sensor.
