So it's time to do hinge pins and bushings on the driver's door of my Suburban... Again...

Just curious what everyone's thoughts are on using the Cunningham Machine bushings with factory pins (which my trucks do not have any more unfortunately, I'd have to source those and the clips separately) vs. the new(ish) greaseable GM hinge pin and bushing set? Here's links to both.

Cunningham Machine bushings:

Greaseable GM kit (Part number 19332887):
www.amazon.com/Genuine-GM-Parts-19332887-Bushings/dp/B01K8FYU4I

My roller is shot on this door as well, so I was considering picking up one of the Cunningham "Heavy Duty" rollers to try out:

Is there any good reason to go with one hinge pin/bushing setup over the other? Please feel free to share any experiences with either, and any thoughts/questions/comments.

I bought the GM greasable pins from Amazon after using the cheap Dorman product. The Dorman bushing crumbled with 3 or so weeks. I found it hard to screw the pins together in the middle while installing. I got frustrated and just used the old pins with the bushings that came with GM pins. It was an expensive choice. In hindsight, if I knew about the Cunningham bushings I’d have gone that route instead. If I ever have to do my other door, I certainly will.

Side questions...

1.) The part number for the factory GM hinge pins is 88891731, correct? That's what RockAuto and a couple other places are telling me, but I'm getting conflicting info from a couple others saying they won't fit.

2.) What's the deal with the factory GM clips that go on the hinge pins? Pretty sure I have the correct part number (25640501) but I can only find them in packs of 10 for $40-50! Is that really legit?

Not sure about part numbers, but you could always buy the Dorman product to use the pins and clips. And then order the Cunningham bushings to use. Incidentally I bought a box of different sized clips on Amazon and use those on several occasions, including this one.

Are the Dorman pins the same dimensions as the OEM GM ones? I was looking at all GM stuff because Cunningham's website says to re-use the factory pins with their bushings.

Dorman hinge pins are the same size as factory. There’s two size bushings though. Both sizes will come from Cunningham for a complete door kit , 2 large and 2 smaller bushings.

Look up AU-VE-CO 5/16" pal nuts or push nuts. I think that I paid 6-8 bucks for a pack of 20? I will go out to the garage after dinner and get the part number if you need it.

Dorman hinge pins are the same size as factory.

If this is the case then buying the Dorman kits and swapping the bushings out for Cunningham ones may be the way to go. The Dorman 38416 kit is only $6 on RockAuto and comes with everything you need to do one hinge including the clips, where as a pack of four factory GM hinge pins alone (no clips) is over $60.

I will go out to the garage after dinner and get the part number if you need it.

That would be great if you don't mind. Even if I don't end up buying them it would be nice to have the part number posted here for reference. Thanks!

Here are the clips, they can be purchased separately for $4.10 ea. They have a good selection of hinge parts .

No idea how I didn't search the clip part number here, GM Parts Direct is one of my go-to sites and I even had it open in another tab while researching this stuff. Major brain fart. Thank you!

Still expensive as all hell for what they are, but nice to know you can get them individually instead of just in 10 packs.
