About to pull the trigger on purchasing a set of SUM-G9014 headers from Summit Racing. Can someone reccomend a good Fel-Pro gasket part# to go along with these headers? I've seen others mention that the gaskets that come with them are not very good.

On my G9015 headers, I went through a few sets of gaskets until I went to header studs and copper gaskets, both from Mr Gasket. I used red Loktite on the studs into my aluminum heads.

My current set of headers on WCJr are mildly over-tightened to stop the leaks. I have a set of Remflex gaskets on the shelf for the next time I have the headers loose.

I have tried, I think, every header gasket they make. My headers have been on my truck for IDK, about 8 years, I guess. With all of the different header gaskets I have tried, ( and they MUST be header gaskets, and NOT exhaust manifold gaskets) the felpro 1444 are the best by far. The set that is on my truck now, has been on there for several years. No leaks at all.

Correction, I think it's 1404, not 1444. Your going to have to look it up for your truck, but I know it's felpro header gaskets. NOT exhaust manifold gaskets.

Summit says the 1444 fits my truck so I ordered a set of them with the headers. I'll see if it matches up correctly with the ports when they come in. Probably won't get to pulling the manifolds off until next week at some point. Thanks for the suggestion guys!

Torquing your header bolts will help. also you need to retorque the bolts after you run the truck. I use grade8 header bolts. Torque to 35 Ft Lbs. There are bolts that you can not get a torque wrench on. About 1/2 of them. On these, I use a wrench and a cheater pipe, about the same length as my torque wrench. That way, I have some kind of feel, as to how tight the bolts are. Here are a few pics of mine. And they are Summit shorty headers.

I just use the ones that come in the box. If you need a replacement gasket I recommend copper. Make sure the raised bead faces the header.

Also the gasket needs to match the shape of the header port NOT the port in the head.
