Yeah, I think you're right. They had nothing on my '87 GMC R1500.
From my experience, '88-'91 is most likely NOT going to decode... I have only got results on ONE out of the 8 I've tried. I pay a monthly fee for 30 VINs a month. I don't mind running them for anyone. Takes a few seconds. I'm sure it would come in handy for you salvage yard shoppers to know what your donor vehicle has/doesn't have... just sayin'.

I'm really just hoping the shop can have her brakes done by Friday, like was originally agreed upon when she was dropped off last Wednesday. Took them until end of business hours 4 work days later to get me a quote. And it was explained that I needed the truck by this coming Friday. So we'll see if they can manage to hold up their end of the bargain.

So, had her back from the shop for a couple weeks, brakes work ok, just mushy. A/C no longer works. So I think there's a leak somewhere.

Also doing the radiator today. According to all info I can find for a '00 K2500 w/ the small block, the only radiator option is a 1 ¼" core. Part # B1693. But if you go older, you can find a 2 ¼" core radiator, part # B624, fits exactly the same. Just more capacity, therefore more cooling. Thick core can also be used on half ton rigs too.

Edit: autocorrect strikes again

Have you ever had a hydro boost unit issue, where it does like what mine is doing? The hissing sound under the dash and around the transmission tunnel, the brakes applying by themselves.... could that be sending the trans into limp mode cause it's acting up and overheating something?
And that's good to know about the radiators. Burb got its replaced in 2018, since I can't use the AC it doesn't try to overheat with it on. Big(pain in the wallet) truck has a thick core, I think....but the cooling system isn't something I have looked at a lot other than checking the coolant level. It's not leaking and seems to be working okay. Now if I can get the rest of the big SOB to follow suit.....

I have not had that happen with any of my trucks. But I would definitely suspect an issue with the hydro boost. As far as the trans needing fluid constantly, have you checked for trans fluid in the radiator? I know the cooler is in the radiator end tank, so it's possible it has suffered an internal failure. I've had that happen one time. Not common, but possible. Other than that, I would suspect internal trans issue or a leaking cooler line.
