Hey yall I have a 97 k1500 that I want to add a slight lift to but don't want to have 0 down travel. I figured I could buy a torsion bar leveling kit for the truck from rc and some longer shocks and upper control arms designed for a lift in order to give me more down travel. i could be totally wrong with this approach but on paper it seems alright more down travel and slightly more ride height. hope you guys can help and advise thanks :).

Better to piece together your kit It'll likely be the same price but way better in the end (longer shocks,no extend bracket's) higher quality design upper control arms,And shock's.

the stock keys crank to 3" so you don't need the keys in the kit

I used
Skyjacker upper control arms,They do not hit the bumpstop anymore, with a set of Bilstein 5100's.

you can also go with any of these upper control arm's (K1500) these will not work on 8 lug (k2500)

Protune Suspension (press in ball joint)
Skyjacker (C256A) (bolt in ball joint) (poly bushings)
RoughCountry (press in ball joint)
Freedom OffRoad (press in ball joint)

Anything but a full on lift kit (4-6 diff drop) will hurt your down travel. All the "leveling kits" are all essentially just a Tbar crank.

What was the outcome?
Thinking through this same topic on my Cheyenne.
My main issue with the RC leveling kits is they decrease turning radius IME.
I always theorized that extended control arms would solve this problem but never confirmed.
