OK everyone curious what's your thoughts on plastic bed liners you owe the ones that are served like a terrific glorified Kitty pool plastic that you'll slip into the bed you think is a great way to start rust unless you're the type of person to take it out every time you wash the truck seems like a Royal pain to me. Or you think Hey they're a good idea like they prevent things and dents and damage to the bed while loading. Honest opinions please

I've had a factory bed liner in mine for 32 years now, and I've only had it out a few times. Early on, I would take it out in the fall when I took it to Krown for rustproofing, but that hasn't been done in over 10 years. The bed under it still looks mint.

If the truck didn't come with one from the factory, I'd go with the spray in bedliners.

I've had both. My two GMT400s (previous and current truck) did not have liners and the '99 new body style I had did have a factory liner. I personally prefer to have the bed mat that I'm using now in my '94 over a liner. I like seeing all the very red bed walls and that's purely from an aesthetic point of view. However, I don't tend to haul a lot and just use my truck as a DD. If I was truly using my truck daily or at least weekly for work related hauling, a liner is much more functional.

Incidentally, the walls of my bed are still in pretty good shape from the 1 previous owner. They took very good care of this truck.

I prefer the bed mats. I have a weather tech bed mat and like it. Never really been a fan of spray in liners or plastic ones. As stated above I like seeing body color in the bed.

I've got a factory drop in. It protects the bed well, but things you want to stay put won't, and things you'd like to slide often wont.

I've only pulled it out a couple of times to clean underneath it.

I like that it will take an impact without denting up steel, since there is a gap in between the two materials..... unless the moving object is a Gov. spec cement pad for a mailbox. I accidentally ripped the liner and separated the front wall of the box from the floor, when I stopped too quickly. The cement pad went under my home AC unit.

For some reason the screws holding the piece on the tailgate backout.... have since the truck was new. I eventually replaced them with stainless.

I have a rubber mat in my 4wd n an under rail plastic liner in the 96. I lucked out n both my beds are junkyard finds with no rust n fairly clean so I wanna keep em decent. I do like that the rubber mat keeps things in place and is easier to remove if I wanna clean under it.

IMO, the best liner is just a moving blanket whenever you need it. Makes it a lot easier to get heavy objects in and out.

Having said that, I think I've had them all. I like the look of fresh Line-X but it doesn't stay clean.

My bed on WCJr looked like hell, so I bought some cheap Seymour rattle-can spray-on bedliner. I planned on reapplying whenever it got dinged up, but the chintzy crap scrapes worse than just spray paint. When I do it again on Roscoe, I'd probably go with something better.

I don't like kiddie pool bedliners.
