Are prices on these trucks just starting to get insane? Last week there was was a teal green 1993 silverado K1500 RCLB with tan interior on a used car lot in my home town. Its was in decent shape, not minty but nice. Still had the stock aluminum rims, was unmodified. The sale price was $18,000 !!! Yes I got the comma in the right spot. Not $1,800 it was $18K.

Are these trucks really worth that kind of money?? Not that I would sell mine, but really, that seems a bit high for one of these. I mean I know the 67-72 C10s are getting up there. I'd love to have an orange and white 70 CST10 with orange and black houndstooth interior, and a big block V8, though when I actually can afford one, I doubt I will ever find one.

I believe so, as I've heard as much from others.

I have to say the answer to that is, Yes. Individuals that were in HS or College around the early-late 90s now have some disposable income and want their dream truck from that era. I bought my first '94 ECSB K1500 brand new the year after I finished graduate school. My first big boy purchase. I regretted the day I traded it on something else. So, I had been looking for another truck for the last decade or so till I found the truck in my avator over a year ago. I was just at Mecum Orlando in July and a RCSB with very low mileage crossed the block at $40K+. Now is the time to buy a nice one before they are in the range that square bodies are now. I'll admit I paid more than $18K for my low mileage, minty truck. The real bonus is that the GMT400 platform is just a great truck in terms of looks and reliability!

Beautiful truck and nice paint color looking good. And I like you kept the original TB I
Eh it's a little crispy on top, and up close it's not really perfect anymore. It needs a freshen up paint job eventually, and a new windshield. I have a NOS GM grille for it in a box in my loft.

I also have an uncracked dash frame for it that will eventually be going in. I plan to keep the TBI and just add some headers maybe. It's been very reliable and I have go fast stuff to drive for that. This truck isnt about going fast. It's more about looking good.

I would love to get more done, but have a lot of irons in the fire with the usual wife and 3 kids, and a multitude of other projects, plus 10 hour days at my job. Seems like theres never enough time in the week for everything.

I havent done much with my truck lately except drive it periodically. I have a lot on my plate right now, and have not worked on the barracuda either for over a year. Kinda sucks when your kid has major mental health issues at 16 and is completely off the chain. In less than 30 days shes 17, and that's a game changer as far as the police are concerned. She stole my wifes damn near brand new impala and wrecked it. I had her arrested. Car goes into the repair shop on monday.

Juvenile crime dept is a joke here in Abilene. She has 6 months probation, and breaks that all the time. We call into probation officer, they dont care. Kicking the can down the road until she commits a crime at 17, and she can be put in "big girl time out". As far as the mental health issues, it's been ongoing since she was little. It started really manifesting itself beginning at age 8 with rage episodes, and running away. Kid is a narcissist, and a sociopath. She will lie to you straight to your face. As long as she gets what she wants at the time, she doesnt care who it hurts, and she is always the victim.

This kid cloned her boyfriends phone, and my wifes phone, then played both of them against one another. I took my wifes phone and checked it out. It pinged in 2 locations at once. I told her the kid probably blue jacked it with your bluetooth setting. Easy enough to do if you have your bluetooth turned on , on your phone, and the blue jackers phone is in proximity. They dont even need to touch the damn thing. I have used this information to my advantage. My wife and I only discuss in text the things we want this kid to know, or stuff to screw with her head. Otherwise we just talk in person.

The way the system is, it's like she has more rights than the parents. I'm tired of the little Beeha. I want her gone, and ironically, so does my wife. When she leaves, she doesnt get to come back. This is all super crazy ****, but at least I went to my doctor and got some chemical help to deal with it so I dont go nuts.

Anyhoo, now that my rant is over. This Hurricane I'm dealing with is about to come to an end. Awhile back in this thread I mentioned that I bought a 2022 Ford Maverick XLT AWD for a daily driver. Fantastic little truck. Perfect for my every day needs, plus 30.2 mpg straight highway, and 26mpg combined city highway. My old Chevy HHR is shot. Worth $450 as a trade in. Only costs $200 per year to insure. Worth more to me as a beater. Ecotec 2.2 still sings at 200k, but burns 2 quarts of oil every 3K. Not worth fixing. Keeping it as a foul weather beater for awhile.

As far as Betsy goes, I am considering a set of bolt on shorty headers. She has one O2 sensor on the left bank, and no air pump. Any ideas on a decent set with thick flanges that wont warp?

The other thing I am considering is ditching the 60/40 bench for buckets and a homemade console. I heard park avenue buckets and bonneville buckets bolt directly to the truck bucket seat mounts, but which years of these cars, and does Katzkin offer covers, so I can recover them to my liking. I am thinking about cutting and lowering the bucket seat mounts about 2" since at 6'-1"I want to sit a bit lower in the cab.

Any thoughts
Matt

So things may be going crappy for me, but I got thrown a bone today. I went to drop off my oil filters, and waste oil at the recycle center, and when I opened the plastic bin for the plastic oil jugs, there was one of these plastic oil drain pan things. It was empty. I pulled it out and took it home. I cut the top off and made a regular drain pan out of it. Now I have 2 identical black oil drain pans, and one identical shaped yellow one for antifreeze. Perfect since they are stackable.
