I have a question regarding front suspension on a 91 c3500hd with solid I beam axle. I am curious if there are any kits or if anyone has converted from leaf springs to a link style setup on these chassis or would it be something I would have to fabricate myself?

A little background on the truck I swapped a 47 fargo cab and front sheet metal onto the chassis and it has a r2.8 cummins crate motor with a dodge 8 speed transmission. The reason I am curious about the link style setup is so I can lose the 8 inches or so off the front of the frame so it doesn't stick so far past the front fenders. Now before everyone says I should have used a different frame that wasn't an option as the guy I'm building it for wanted this setup for whatever reason so I am just trying to adapt the best I can. Here is a couple pics of the truck so far

I have not heard of anyone modding these except to make them 4wd, and even then its still the leaf spring setup.

Sounds like you may be in uncharted waters, but that is a cool project.

WFO makes link brackets n stuff like that, won't be bolt on, but might be somewhere to start. Simple parallel link n Panhard bar would work...
Thanks I'll check them out. The other thing I thought of to was possibly building a radius arm but I just don't know enough about the geometry of those to tackle it. So hopefully I can find something from WFO that I can make work.

If the old 3500HD dot com forums were still alive (they're long gone now) I'd link you to a guy that did Topkick airbag suspension on his HD. It's not the solution you're looking for, but may spawn some ideas. His truck ended up as a mini-Topkick basically, much higher off the ground than a normal HD, but without the huge tilt front end setup you get with a Topkick. Impressive truck the man used in his business to move portable buildings with.
