Hey everyone,

New to the site figured id introduce myself. Names Wes, just recently purchased a 99 K2500 Suburban SL that I'm planning to daily drive. I've Been going through the process of tuning it up as it's been sitting a while and has some minor issues but all in all it's a solid ride that was well taken care of. Not entirely new to OBS trucks as my dad had about 6 of them growing up and had my fair share of being yelled at while holding the flashlight or lack thereof. Ill probably be popping in and out as I'm tinkering with this thing. I've already found a bunch of useful information. Outside the GMT400 world, I'm an old car enthusiast who currently working on a 30' Model A roadster with a Z'd frame powered by a grand national Turbo V6. By currently I mean I touch it every couple of months (house projects and 2 kids makes for minimal hot rod time). Also, have a 1979 c10 and a 1964 VW bus. If there are any other hot rod guys on here Holler.

2500 'burbs seem to be the new hot item in the GMT400 world...I picked mine up 2+ years ago and there seem to be more and more added to the site.

I daily drove my big block rig for about a year and half, they make awesome drivers.

Welcome!

Welcome to the forum, from Houston, Texas. I've always liked hot rods and kustoms,I grew up reading my dad's car magazines, and built models before I started helping out with the big cars and trucks. Then as my dad got older and more stove up, I gradually took on more wrenching. Now I have two 400s, my '99 Burb C1500 5.7, and my latest (and largest) acquisition, Rawhide the '97 C3500 5.7 crew cab long bed. Still working out the kinks on the big fella, but I still enjoy working on them most of the time.
And I have attended and been a vendor at all twenty Lone Star Roundups, in Austin, Texas and all five Bayou Roundups in Lafayette, Louisiana. Two of the best hot rod and kustom shows in the south central US....

Yes it’s a 5.7, meant to add that.
You have kind of a rare one, with the W/T front end, and a GMC one at that! Is it tailgate/liftglass? Those are not common either.
I prefer the 5.7 for daily driving, a little easier on gas. That's one reason I wanted the crew cab, it's a 5.7 like my Burb so simpler to work on.

That's good to hear, now that I own it I feel like I see OBS trucks and SUVs everywhere and none quite look like mine. All have the composite headlight grille and definitely none in Meadow Green Metallic. No on the tailgate/lift glass, It's got the barn doors. She's as plain as they come, Bench seat, crank windows, rubber flooring but its not all tore up. Reminds me of an old DNR truck. is your 3500 crew a dually? and that's awesome about the Lonestar round up i've heard great things but i've never made it that far for a show.
