This is what the old 350 sounded like firing up with the open cutouts. The 383 has more boom to it. Usually angers the tree huggers. It still has cats though, so whatever. I love when the parking lot is sloped and the nose is pointing down hill, have to rev it a bit to overcome the tall reverse gear in the 4L85E with the 2,800 stall. Converter stalls to about 2,500 rpm before it will move in reverse to back uphill! 383 is purring like a lion when its at 2,500 rpm under load with open exhaust.

I was thinking with cutouts open still running through cheap, packed stainless mufflers like the flow fx and when closed running though a second set of some other muffler to change/lower the sound.
I’m too old for fully open LOL

When I was a mechanic I remember noticing how all exhaust/muffler shops custom or franchise use a much thinner grade pipe than any pre-bent pipe you can buy. Noticed on my truck where the tail pipes are still in great shape but as old as the rest of the exhaust.

Truck was a Barn find, In 2012 I bought it with 52k. original everything except the stereo and the Transmission. The transmission case had corroded severely especially around the governor housing n pan bolts. Beginning to show its age now, still runs and rides smooth.
Funny but interesting how the DOT number on the tires is so old that the format is not recognized on any website to determine the year the tires were made. Still working that issue.

Thanks for sharing. It looks great! I honestly didn't know you could do true duals without losing the spare tire.

Hello all.
After purchasing left and right pre-bent tail pipes from Walker I took my 90 K1500 to a custom exhaust facility and told them what I wanted. My only regret is not telling them to configure a cross over pipe.
Its been great with no rattles and a medium loudness. Its been five years and I plan to fabricate hangers that have the OEM look rather than the 5/16" rod used at the shop. Just wanted to share this.

This is what I’m going for with my 94 but straight out back I don’t have the spare anymore I’m going to mount that in the bed.
