Picked up a core to start working on a replacement for my 97. Will be a slow build with all the other things going on, but will keep this thread up with info and parts list along with progress.

Nice! I did a Transmission Bench master overhaul rebuild kit that came with like 8 hours of video. I highly recommend it if it's your first build.

That looks like a 2wd... I'm assuming you are going to convert your output shaft to a 4x4?

Will be watching this thread!

Thanks,
I built th400, 4l60e, t5 and tr6060 before. Hoping to figure it out with some online help. And yes on a 4x4 conversion. Also case actually has damage that will need to be repaired.

what is your power level?
Currently just in a 400+ range. Might be 500+ for torque. Large tire, taller gears and heavy weight vehicle.
Forged 8.0 bbc with decent cam and heads. Have a decent size turbo waiting to go in as well that should be putting it at 800+ and want to get transmission ready before that part goes in.

Right away evident it's toast. Was rebuilt before, with transgo shift kit. It also has earlier overdrive set up.

Pump is out as well. Overall really poor core. I essentially paid for a convenient pickup location to pick up a spare case that needs work. Damage on hard parts and heat damage are likely due to lack of fluid. Pan was dented and it might have been starved for fluid numerous times.
