Would you believe the cheesy little stamped steel clamps with a top-mount 10mm nut that cinches them together, are what F@rd uses on the 7.3 "Godzilla" gas engine? Yup..

Anyway the lesson learned, and re-learned, should always be start with the simple stuff.

My service truck 2019 F-550 with the 6.7 uses the same style of clamp. It's stupid cant really add anything to the battery post. I have a lift gate and inverter in the back. I can have one or the other hooked up but not both at the same time.

Love that show.
That was my Thursday night jam in high school, Hill Street Blues. Friday night was Miami Vice and Crime Story or Private Eye. I've never been a big TV fan, other than when a band/artist I like or know is on a show,or Austin City Limits, but I always made time to watch those shows.

Miami Vice and Spenser For Hire were probably my favorites. Also liked Simon and Simon, Hardcastle and McCormick, and The Fall Guy. Had the biggest crush on Heather Thomas!

Pic stolen from web but it's the same terminal end; I haven't studied how that top mounted bolt makes the clamp work, but these don't inspire confidence.

Truck had just a barely perceptible slow crank. The real glaring symptoms (to me, anyway, but not the previous 6 shifts that used the truck because nobody said anything) was right after you started it, the radio switched from 12hr clock back to 24hr (default) and the dash light dimming display would come up as if you'd hit the button for it, but hadn't.

I jump out of the truck dozens of times a night and shut it off so nobody jumps in for the free ride. Almost always in hostile territory, so if it doesn't want to start when I jump back in.. that's not good.

Yeah, the bad part is the big three are all that way now. I like my studded side post the best, and I run 3478 dual post batteries so I have top post as well if needed.

We've got a few much smaller loads attached with ring terminals at that stupid nut to tighten the clamp. It's not a good solution and it explains how our guys didn't get them tight enough. Power to the controls for the wrecker unit, clutch on the hydraulic pump, stuff like that.
