Does anyone know if the dashboard harness has the connectors for the single disc CD player in it, even if the truck doesn't have the unit? Crew cab has the head unit with the cassette, but no disc player. That may need to change before road trips, but I don't want to get into the dash just to look for a plug. The dash is really nice in this truck and I don't want to mess it up!
It's actually just a standalone harness that runs between the back of the radio and the slave unit. There's a connector separate from the main connector on the radio just for it.

And it's usually not there if you didn't have a slave unit already installed from the factory. They're easy enough to remove from a junkyard truck if you can find one that hasn't been cut. They're also in the S-Series trucks 98-05 that have the slave unit (tape usually) in the floor console, or in 99-02 GMT800s with the same.

Thanks guys, I will look for that when I get to the yard again.

AK49, thanks. I have figured that, "jumper cable," to the remote CD was all by itself, but I've tried to pull two or three out and all seemed, "trapped," inside the dash. Am I missing something to their removal?

I was able to pull a few out of the junkyard. I think it took some good pulling effort and you have to make sure the connector doesn't get hooked on anything behind the dash.

Can't recall but I think it's partially just jammed in there trapped between plastic bits, but there may also be one retainer taped onto the bundle - if you pull the radio and A/C controls out, look for the nipple of a plastic retainer poking through the dash shell facing you, and push it out while wiggling on the harness.
