Since these headlights are both expensive & fairly hard to come by i decided after taking with Jim to have them protected with 3m headlight protection film. Both to protect the lenses from road debris & keep them from clouding up due to UV rays. Had a local Vinyl Wrap shop do the installation (would've been simple enough to do on my own, but time is hard to find). Crystal clear & looks amazing. Cost was a little more than I was expecting ($80). But the finished product turned out great so I'm happy. If wanted to do it cheaper I've seen the film on Amazon along with other websites.
Any chance you have the link to the protection film you used? Thank you.

I remembered I have a spare factory headlight bracket on my parts shelf. I just compared it to the corresponding Arteb bracket, and they are very close. The differences I see are that the Arteb has a wider opening to accommodate the city light, and instead of having molded in threaded inserts for the pins, it uses clips. Using the other Arteb light.... it seems to fit both brackets great sitting here at my desk, so I don't know what's going on with the one on my truck. It looks like I'm just going to have to pull the grille so I can see better what's going on. I suppose I should just swap out the brackets anyway, so there's no interferance with the city light.

I actually had mine done at a shop that does vinyl wraps. But if you search "3m headlight protection" you can find it. I saw it on Amazon & almost went that route. But been so busy it was just easier 2 have it done.

Building on @Kustombuilt1911's reply...

I've had a number of OE headlights covered with clear UV-blocking film by a guy who does "clear bras", so you might ask around the local body shops or higher-end auto dealers for a lead to such a person.

Too, the application technique is similar to applying window tint film, and I suspect some of the window tint guys / shops might have the desired material for headlights (thick, clear, and UV blocking) and be willing to apply it.

3M makes material of this type but there are others, too.

For the mostly flat, rectangular / square-ish headlights on the GMT400s, a person could probably apply the film successfully themselves.

For curved, stylish OE headlights like those on later-model vehicles, an experienced installer makes a difference.

I wonder if the vinyl wrap shops would do it. There's one in the next town over that apparently uses 3M products, so I may check with them.

The shop I took mine to did both Vinyl wraps & the clear bras. So there is a good chance a shop local to you would be able to take care of it.
