Today I replaced the ground wire from the firewall to the frame. The old one was thin and pretty much disintegrated when I pulled it off. I put a 1 inch braid on that I had super heavy duty. The one on the back of engine that goes to the firewall I'm going to change as well. But it's not going to be on back where I can't get to it I'll find another spot, I got some braid on order. I also replaced the Idle air control valve. I started it up and it ran ok then it started blowing smoke then smooth so I just let it idle with and without the ac on never touched the throttle. Went out and mowed and let it run for about 45 minutes shut it off and cooked some chicken took a shower and came back. Started it up again and ran it up and down the driveway hammered on it pretty hard all good. Put it back in it's spot and shut it off. Started it back up all was good and I just sat back for about 10 minutes and listened one hiccup then it seemed to reset itself. Then I got back in it and throttled it up and moved it, restarted it all good. Going to drive it tomorrow. If it quits tomorrow, somebody is getting a free truck.

No I didn't know you were joking. As of now it's in my driveway for sale. Yes it's running great in my driveway we will see tomorrow what it does on the road.

So was the plan to get it running to sell or you’ve just become disillusioned with it?

no I did all kinds repairs on it last summer and it does this nonsense. I will take the 1970's era over these any day. I don't know yet where that ECM OR ECU is but when I find it I'm throwing it in the street where it belongs. Ive had this truck for 10 years.

Today I replaced the distributer... ...Started it back up and it died and it said check gauges and the tach was pegged so I left the key on. Engine bay was making a clicking sound from firewall area and dumping fuel into the TBI. I turned the key off unhooked the battery and called it a day.

It came with the distributer
ANOTHER distributor, or the same one from the first post that you had problems with???
