Yeah those are the display driver load sink resistors, they're famous for cold solder joints in these DICs, the newer instrument clusters, etc.

Figured they were a resistor of some sort, but I’m not too savvy with electronics. I did note that that part of the board got quite warm after only a min or two of use. I’m guessing that’s why those cold soldered joints fail.

Just out of curiosity how did everyone mount the DIC in their overhead console? I have one but the mounting bracket doesn't fit. Or does it just get sandwiched with no mounting cover?

I stuck my sensor behind the cluster somewhere and grabbed a dash support that was grounded. My thought was it would measure interior temp.

Turns outs that sensor needs to be in airflow. Pretty sure it’s adjusted with VSS, so mine doesn’t read close to accurately. I grabbed a smaller GMT800 sensor, so I’ll try to hide that somewhere. I’ve read that the 2K15 mirrors have a sensor in there. Might try that.

you could mount it inside an hvac duct, at least youd know the temp of your air

Havent finished all the wiring, will do when i pull the dash to replace, but i suspect i need to find a new DIC, it only has the power and ground wired right now, not sure if it will come on with just those wires
