I haul and tow all the time with my 89 K2500. The other day I had over 1000 pounds of stuff in the back. It’s not a bad hauler, it could be a lot worse. My 94 K1500 with a bad transmission has hauled the hunting dogs a couple of times. Dog box weighs ~100 pounds plus 10 beagles, so about 225-250 pounds. Occasional trash runs and whatnot.
Since everyone is talking about overloading a truck, my daughter had a 2001 Ford Ranger and when she was moving from just outside Superior WI to Oshkosh WI we had the entire back with her stuff. That 3.0 V6 struggled. Now that she has her K5 Jimmy, I bet we can move everything from her house without stopping halfway to call a tow truck.
