Good luck with him "tightening the bands".

If he charges you for that, demand to see the old pins. If he won't show them to you, he's either a fraud, or a hack.
Thanks, that’s just my ignorance showing, I’ve heard a lot about bands getting tightened, but only got my first automatic a few years ago so don’t know much about them. This guy has done a couple of T case tebuilfs and a NV4500 for me and has always done great work. Hi ne Toyota 5 speed he did, he asked me how it was and I told him it was still hard to shift so he took it back out and replaced two gears for no labor just parts. And that was 4x4.

There are no "adjustments" for the bands as @Schurkey has pointed out. Now, they do make different length pins for the engine braking band (earlier, narrower band uses a shorter servo pin and later, wider band uses a longer servo pin), per ATSG p.113. But again, that shouldn't have to do with the symptoms you are experiencing.

I've also seen some guys weld filler material to the reverse servo pin to lengthen it for the "no-reverse" condition.
Thanks, I should have said, it’s not just reverse. Wint go in any gear. When cold only. Doing fine this time of year

~Fifteen quarts of fluid, a filter and perhaps a gasket, and an afternoon.

"I" sure would not pay someone to do a job that simple. I sure as hell would not wait seven weeks to pay someone to do a job that simple.

But perhaps there's factors I'm not aware of.
Thanks, transmission shop called and said my tranny was leaking out the back into the T case, then out the back of the T case. I didn’t think about that possibility for some reason, I knew it was leaking but couldn’t tell how much and forgot that the front T case seal could leak tranny fluid. So he’s taking it out and replacing the seals. Yeah I would have done the oil change, I did the one in my Ram, and adjusted one band on that too but I’m kind of busy these days and anyway, like I said before, needed an opinion on what might be causing the 20 minute warm up. He said that running it low on fluid probably prevented it from moving until it warmed up enough for the fluid to expand. I told him I’d do the oil change later myself. Can’t wait to see how it works this winter.
BTW when I’m checking the oil stick, is the Low on the stick supposed to be read with engine running, same as reading the Hot mark??

Two factors you’re not aware of. I have five other pickups three if which run good, and two cars both of which run great. Other factor is I have a farm and two rentals in town that keep me busy into perpetuity
