Get some examples of some good welds to guide you. Also grind through your welds and look for little holes (porosity). As you practice the welds will get smoother looking and there will be less of the porosity. Not sure what you are using but I learned on a traditional "stick" welder and then later found Mig welding to be a breeze.

Is the polarity set correct on that machine? I see some good size bb's/spatter. There should be very little to no spatter on "MIG." Look at the owners manual, it should mention polarity for MIG and reversing polarity for flux cored welding. What gas are you using? 75/25? I think 25 CFM is somewhere in the ballpark for flowrate.

The times that's I've had issues with Mig, it was polarity was wrong (forgot to change it back after welding flux core) or forgot to turn on the shielding gas (huge amount of porosity.) And it goes without saying that the metal should be CLEAN for this welding process. And no wind (i.e. windscreens if welding outside with only no wind).

What machine did you get BTW?

@kennythewelder can probably offer more tips.
