Nice ride. Make a plan and focus on it. Most of us did not drop our trucks off at a shop and pick them up in a couple weeks perfect. It takes time. Looks like you have a good foundation to start with. Would love to find a truck that clean in Ohio.

Stop looking in Ohio.

Thanks. I do have a plan. We just bought a house so I have so many other things I need to get to before I get time for my truck or car, unless it’s maintenance related or something like the clutch, then I make the time to get it done.

Everything is back together and I have a smooth pedal operation. I ended up needing to order a new throw out bearing guide tube(bearing retainer if anyone needs to look one up). Now I can begin the small projects…adjust the clutch pedal, tighten up steering column, cab mounts, leveling kit, etc…

Here’s my truck if anyone has wanted to see it. Not pretty yet, but slowly getting there.

Hey boss - how did you end up discovering it was the bearing retainer going bad? I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out what's causing my weird clutch pedal feel...this is as best as I can describe it: slightly soft and bottoms out fine but hard to get into gear, but if I continue to give the pedal more force, it kind of "pops-into-place" and goes down another 1/2" at which point, will go smoothly into gear. However; I go the last 1/4" to the floor, it will absolutely not go into gear or begin to walk...

Anyhow, any and all info is greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time!

As I was initially reassembling everything, I was watching this video just to be on the safe side and make sure I was installing the throw out bearing the right way.

It meantioned the bearing retainer so I pulled mine off and looked at it and sure enough, it was damaged.

That video is extremely helpful - in the initial 30 secs, he explains a similar scenario about the pedal engaging at the floor and immediate movement as soon as you left off the clutch. I'm inclined to believe I have several things wrong in the trans that I simply missed the 1st go around.

Thanks again!

copied from 91cheyenne5spd post..."I found that the problem I was having comes from the throw out bearing catching on the guide tube in turn, putting it in a bind.
I removed my guide tube and sure enough, there was an area worn down by at least 1/32 of an inch."

Do you have any pictures of these?
