Well ended up having a free minute and since I kind of suspected some bad fuel at first since the trucks last had a fill up a little over a year ago I threw in some octane booster and decided to drive down and put in a few gallons of fresh gas so I could see if that fixed the stumble issue or rule out bad gas. Drove the truck to the gas station. Put 9 gallons in it and it wont fire up. sounded starved of fuel and Didn't hear the pump. Got it towed home. Gunna go out tomorrow and check the relay and the fuses one more time (was a bit dark and my phone light may not be the best) ill see about renting and hooking a gauge up to it and see what the pressure reads.

Assuming the pump is bad .... again What are some decent pumps? I feel like every time I've thrown in a new pump it seems to last lesser and lesser time. I believe this last time I used a Delphi unit. it lasted me about 4 years and 34k miles ... IMO that's trash. about the same time as the "spider offbrand crap" I used the last time so are parts just getting cheaper or is there a better option?

On a Yukon this is not a fun job unless I cut a hole in my floor which being an enclosed cabin I dont want to do.

Replace the pump in the tank with a piece of tubing with a Fuel tank "sock"

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/oer-k405 for 3/8" tubing -or-

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/oer-k404 for 5/16" tubing

Should be 3/8".

No more dropping the tank to change the pump!

Try starting it again, and if it won't start, hit the bottom of the tank right under the pump, and try again..... that got me home a time or two when mine was going out.

I put a Denso pump in my truck. They can be expensive depending on exactly which one your truck needs. I was able to get one at a decent price through Advance Auto (online) in 2018. It's made in China, but probably in a Denso owned factory, and they're pretty good on quality. It did take a awhile to actually get it, as it was shipped directly from a Denso warehouse in California.

The dealer purchased AC Delco is what had pooped out, and unknown to me at the time was the source of my hard starts that I had endured for a few years, thinking it was injectors.

Bad gas is bad gas, and there's no fixing it except to drain and dispose of it. Octane booster isn't any higher potency than 87 octane gas, and it's not a cleaner.

In my opinion, anything older than 6 months is old gas. I had a fuel jug I'd filled back in September, and I just dumped it into my mower a couple days ago. It smelled bad while it was running, and the mower didn't run as strong as it should have, but it's burned up now. I didn't dare put it in any of the vehicles - I can clean the mower tank out in 5 minutes.

Years ago I had bad gas in my Jaguar Lemons racer that had been sitting a couple of years. I drained the twin eleven gallon tanks and splashed them with 5 gallons each of fresh gas. The carburetor plugged up almost immediately. I cleaned everything, drained, and refilled again. Still had bad gas. I finally ended up ditching the twin tanks and installing a fuel cell in the trunk.

Bad gas is a pestilence, and the longer you wait the worse it is. Drain that garbage out ASAP, clean the tanks, and run fresh gas.

Maybe go to your dealership and get a quote there for a pump replacement?

My buddy put a replacement from Oreilley's on his 01 Silverado a long time ago. He said it only lasted a year. He then went and got a dealership replacement and that lasted over 100k. At some point it went out again and he found the dealership receipt. I believe it was an AC Delco it had the same part number on RockAuto... He's close to 400k and on his 4th pump, and the last one was also purchased at the dealership.

Regarding gas: My K3500 CCLB 5.7 doesn't get used anymore. I start it and let it idle and reach operating temperature every month or so, to keep battery charged, seals from becoming dry, drive off moisture, etc. Yesterday I realized it had an almost full tank! :p I can't remember last time I drove it and filled her up (34 gallon tank, LOL!), but must have been a while. I have another truck that I brought as a project. It's been a bit more than 1 1/2 years on that one, same thing: start it and let it warm up monthly. The LQ4 still starts and idles smooth...

My experience too with multiple projects that sat for months that turned into years.

I bought an old jeep that had been parked for 3 years with a full tank, and after I got it running, I drove it around on that tank.
