Quick update here. Since this came in:

My gawd the box is huge. Very light, but huge!

The cab mount bushings and hardware are coming out, because the cab needs to be lifted off of the frame. I have new bushings and hardware, as well. Ya know, there's a certain happiness that comes around once a year when new parts come in and you take them out of the box :)

Next is to lift the cab a few inches off of the frame. I hope this doesn't require removing the fenders. I'd be better off removing the cab. Not sure what that entails.

Sure. What would that achieve?

It would allow the fenders to raise with the cab. But there may be other items to watch out for as well when you're doing this. I was able to lift the left and right sides independently when I replaced my body bushings and didn't mess with anything else. If all you're doing is swapping out bushings you won't have an issue, but the way you worded your post it sounds like you may be after something else as well.

I see. Well, I appreciate the advice, but it seems I'm going to be pulling the doors and fenders off, as well. Lovely.....

So I've spent most of the weekend stripping down the front end to raise the cab, to get the cab bushings out, and to get the floor pan in.

It took me awhile to be able to move the cab. It's not that it's overly heavy... it's that it's clumsy as all Hell and by already putting the bed on, it's a tight fit between the back of the engine and the firewall. More specifically, the heater hoses won't clear the distributor if you try to slide the cab off toward the driver side. So, I slid it as far as it would go, and have it propped up a good 6 to eight inches off of the frame. I think I now have enough clearance to fix both the floor pan and all 4 cab mounts.

So, these buggers here are the metal inserts that go between the cab and the bushings. There's actually 4 of them. These two are ok, and with a good cleaning, they are likely reuse-able.

These two, however, are not.

I don't have unlimited frikken funding here, so new ones might be out of the question. Don't know as I haven't priced them and I'm too pissed off at the moment to go internet shopping.

So I made as much room as I could around the floor pan, and was all ready to start cutting.... when I realized I'm fresh out of cutting wheels. CRAP! Off to Lowes I go.. I get there, grab the supplies I need, go to the checkout to pay, and SON OF A B......... I forgot my wallet!@#$%. You guys are probably getting a good laugh out of this, and that's ok.

For the SHJT day I've had, at least someone is laughing.

Those cab mount pieces are almost always in tip top shape on non-rust area trucks. Get someone from the South to send you a few. I can't tell you how many I chucked into the scrap pile when I had the parts yard; nobody ever needed them.

I think we've all been there and had that kind of day. At least you didn't walk out from lowes after forgetting your wallet and find out your vehicle was stolen...

That's an idea but I cannot wait that long. I need this thing on the road sooner than later.

Ya know, the funny part is, my neighbor came over to say hi the other day. I showed him my latest project. He had this look on his face like - what are you doing with this POS? Then, he looked inside (before I had the cab torn apart) and saw that it's a 5 speed. He then fully understood and agreed with my insanity.

Also, I might just hit up the yard tomorrow. I have an errand to run in the AM so perhaps after that. OH, and the parts to get my DD back on the road should finally get here tomorrow, so I don't know how much I'll get done on this rust bucket.
