So wait, just finished reading through htis thread. Nice work....but you lowered a K1500? Did I read that right? And why get rid of the tow mirrors? Aerodynamics? Just wondering....
You read that correctly indeed. Of the 7 years I've owned it, it's only really seen offroad once. Now that I have another Suburban, I won't be using this one for hunting. The horsepower bug has bit me, and with that I've been trying to find ways to make it quicker besides just sheer horsepower. Lowering it allows me to run a smaller tire without a huge goofy fender gap, allows better cv axle angles, and less air going under the vehicle. Also it just looks good imo. Once I lowered it and put stock gmt900 wheels back on it, the tow mirrors just looked plain goofy and out of place. I've been driving my other suburban with stock mirrors for about a year and a half now, so I've gotten used to the stock mirrors again. The end goal with this one is a reliable, street friendly suv that will give new muscle cars a run for their money and will see some track use as well. Somewhat of a sleeper if you will (minus the exhaust and idle of a cammed LS engine).

Still got the mirrors? Or are you going to put them on the other Burb?

Love the progress, it's been awesome to see this thing evolve!

I do still have the mirrors, but I don't plan to install them on the other suburban since it has the defrost glass and my tow mirrors do not.

I appreciate it!

Installed my TA Performance Girdle Support cover last night. Very pleased with the fitment and quality of this piece. I need to eventually powdercoat a few things to pretty it up some.

Transmission place finally got my output shaft in from their supplier, so hoping that the transmission ships out by the end of the week. Hopefully won't be much longer and I can get back to driving it!

Update,

Installed the new trans and converter, drove it easy for 8 miles to make sure it shifted right, then decided to get on it just a little from a dig, and once it went into 4th, I eased back into it and it revved up as if it was in neutral. Frustrated, I pulled the trans and converter back out, and diagnosed it as either the converter or the input drum. The converter turned out okay, so I made the trip up to Pennsylvania to make the trans right. Upon disassembling, we found that the 4L79 input drum had cracked due to a bad casting.

Fast foward a few weeks, and now I have the trans back and in, and have over 500 miles on the transmission! I'm absolutely loving how it shifts and performs. I will be having 3" exhaust installed next week since my 2.5" exhaust wouldn't clear the new pan, so its open headers for now! I just pray it holds together for a long time from here on out.

I've accomplished my goal of having a 4wd SUV that will run a faster 1/4 mile than gen 5 Camaro SS', 1st gen Coyote Mustang GTs, ans 392 Scat Pack Challengers. And that's just on the base tune. I'm excited to see what it gains from dyno tuning!

Glad it's running better.

So you're saying you have a time slip in the low 12s?
No timeslips yet (haven't been to the track) , but I used an app similar to Dragy from HP Tuners and it was 13.1 with a bad launch on my end. I'm finding stock camaro 6.2s run 12.8, stock mustang 5.0s run 13.2, and stock SRT8 392s run 13.3. This is also on my base tune, so I'm sure it'll be in the 12's when it's done.
