I have thought about just driving it and fixing all the other odd and ends and find a 350 to build. I wanna lower it and make a fun street truck.

New injectors is already 3 to 500 depending on brand.

How hard is it swapping a 350. New computer??

That actually looks like its getting fuel. Maybe just not at the right time due to a clogged injector/line. If your 100% on the compression reading i would change out to an mpfi setup. But that plug looks likenits getting fuel just not igniting it

Is there any way to swap injector postion with the spider setup, to see if the problem moves? I know that would be a lot of work for the OP, but replacing the whole spider is also expensive.

"I" would not put real money into a 305/5L unless circumstances were very weird.

Grab a 350--either known-good; or a suitable core--and have at it. You'll need computer tuning as well (or grab the computer that's been running the 350 you buy, assuming it's suitable for your vehicle.)

Care in selecting the fresh engine will go a long way toward reducing overall cost. Buy a "better" engine, spend less rejuvenating it.

You're still likely to be buying a MPFI injector system.

I'd have said that the plug looks like it's getting oil. But kinda hard to tell from one photo.

Might be worth popping a valve cover or two, and replacing valve stem seals. Low cost, moderate amount of labor. Good weekend project. Clean/replace one fouled plug, see what happens.

The labor involved would be high. Might as well replace the known-crappy spider system with the better injectors. (But I'd do it to a 5.7L as part of the swap...)

Would bad valve stems cause a missifire letting oil into cylinder or too much air.
Laying a plug wire against grounded metal is poor practice. Buy a real spark-tester, calibrated for HEI.

The ignition system should throw a reliable spark across the business end of the spark tester--not occasionally, not with frequent misfires.
I'll grab a tester and test it to be sure, make sure nothing withing the distrubtor is going on.

I have to say it doesn't feel constant when the truck is idling can't really feel it...You can kinda feel a miss around 2k ish rpms and after that it smooths out.
