I think gmt400 still has appeal of the"vintage truck" like squarebody, 70s rams etc. because it's simple and "square". Big wheels, KCs and bars don't look out of place on them. 800 lost it with all those curves. It's a purely subjective view.

I don't get it when people refer to the GMT-400 as "square". There's nothing square about it.

I like the early 800, it really wasn't all that different to me, but when they did the front end change they ruined it.
Yes, the 99-2002 design is an evolution of the 94-98 400s. The cat eye one from 03-06 looks like someone sat on it...and I'm not keen on the Lego taillights either.
Got a buddy who bought a 2002 sportside in 04, still has it, loves it dearly, and he doesn't like the cat eye one either!

Squarebody was called that, because of a "boxiness"of the styling-

Right, completely understand.

I view 400s as an evolution of that, with even more sharp angles, than squarebody had(windows line, front).

You lost me..... the 400 is sloped, rounded, aero-dynamic. When they were first introduced, I thought they were very un-truck-like and much more like a car. They were the high-tec aero truck compared to the Sqaurebody Chevy's, the Dodges, or Fords. They were ground breaking in design. The early 800s were similar but were a bit more rounded in the front, but that in no way makes the 400 "square".

Wow; never thought I'd see cateye Silvy hate in here! :D :D :D

I really don't care for the 99-02 Silverados. When I started shopping for a 800, I specifically hunted for 03-up..

Richard

I did not like them at all when they were introduced, and for years after that. It wasn't until recently that I've decided I like them, and that will probably be what my next truck is.

Like I said it's subjective and it's my view-ypur's is different and I respect that.

67 Buick Riviera for burnouts? I wanna see that!!
It’s pretty “roadkill” at the moment. I just bought it a few weeks ago and am working through a few things still, but it has the high compression 1970 455 in it(10.5:1) and runs great. I took it down the road and made sure it would turn the tires over, but had to limp it back to the yard after I realized the brakes still left a lot to be desired. Here’s a pic of it next to the squarebody hunting truck.

When I had my 74 Mercury Montego,I brought it home on ONE working brake-front left. Right one-the brake hose was shot inside(so it wasn't leaking but would "baloon"when pressure applied) and rear brake hose was snapped-idk how it didn't lose all brake fluid. About 140 miles I drove it like this.
