Has anyone ever put a nv4500 in a 1990 to replace the sm465. If so I’m wondering if it went smooth and did you have to change drive shafts. The 93 with the nv4500 is a extend cab short box and the 90 is a extended cab long box.

I would think that they would interchange. Reason being as they were still options for everything. I've seen the sm465s on diesels as well as small blocks early. The late model sm465 I think is 8 inches longer than the early style.

They are both 32 spline and depending on what NV4500 you get you may have to change your bellhousing as well as clutch Master cylinder arrangement.
