On a total different line of thinking.
This is a awesome build. I wish I was able to get my grandpas truck, he had a 1997 2500 7.4L burb. He got dementia and my family sold it a few years ago, this is before I leaned how much I love these trucks.

What's going on boys. Have not been on here in a minute but wanted to provide some updates. Early July we threw in a new radio, four new speakers, and a sub and amp. Also got AC fixed. Was driving the truck on October 23 and lost all power steering and brakes. Got it towed to mechanic in Columbia who basically said that truck ran hot at one point and melted all heat sensors and pretty much overheated to the point where it blew up. I have now blown up 2 engines in the last 2 years. The good thing was that this engine was still on warranty, so I am not paying a dime for the new one. Once I get it back, I think we will see another sub, tinted windshield, and maybe some exhaust for Christmas. Thank y'all.

Been a minute. Got the truck back December 19 and she did fine for most of the rest of the school year. Literally my last night in Clemson on May 3rd I’m heading back to my apartment from dinner with my roommate and hear a grinding noise that results in me breaking both upper balljoints on College Avenue. Dad and I replaced them both in the apartment complex parking lot and went home for the summer the next day. 9 days later I lose all power on 385 coming home from Greenville and think I’ve blown a 3rd engine. Threw her on a rollback and got home to realize all that happened was my ICM went out. She’s been good since then. Made a trip to Alpharetta and back and Charleston and back in consecutive weekends with no problems. New tires coming next.

My favorite tires for daily driving and occasional wheeling/hunting were Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac. Also if I were you I'd skip the 305 tires and stick with the 285. I had both on my truck before I lifted it and the 305s were just extra weight and extra width (aka rubbing) without any real performance gain.

I've never owned a black vehicle before owning this truck in my avatar. I actually have two. One is a 1995 Chev Z71 4x4 that has original teal green paint. needs fenders but I have been really careful to keep the cab rockers and cab corners clean and sprayed on the inside with rust inhibitor. No rust in the cab. Since I sunk that truck in a river so the entire thing except the roof of the cab was showing I have become a lot more gentle to it. It has never left me in the lurch and I love this truck so it has become a pavement princess. I want it to last. But I don't really like the color and some day hope to give it a little darker green paint.

But nobody notices it.

My other truck is the one in my avatar. I am pleasantly surprised at how many people do a double take as this truck rolls by. It is a 1998 GMC and the paint isn't perfect either but it has been well cared for and looks like it.

I don't know. I respect a person that doesn't need to beat up something to prove he is strong. But I'll admit it IS fun to watch someone ELSE drive theirs really hard.
