Food for thought....I added a mechanical oil pressure gauge my Burb as I didn't trust the dash gauge. With a couple of brass fittings and a mechanical gauge kit I piggy-backed it to the electric one at the crank pulley, now I have a trusted reading for the oil pressure.Alrighty then....changed my thermostat yesterday to a 180* to see how it does. It was bugging me that 215-220 was the normal cruising temp. I know some may think 180 is too cool, but here in Texas with the heat we have, I am liking it. The needle sits about 2 marks below the 210 line and that is fine with me. It doesn't smell as gassy either. Odd. I have a 195* as well, so I can change it out if need be. Anyways, what I did discover is 3 broken vacuum lines. One for the evap canister, and two that go to the TBI. I am going to do some searching this morning on the interwebs and se if there are direct replacements so I don't have to rig it. I think my 36 code is from those lines and maybe not the IAC itself. I'll report back with my findings. If anyone knows of a good source for those lines, please let me know. I have put 1000 miles on her so far. Most of that was driving back from Colorado Springs, but at this point, the average mpg is 11.2. I'll take it. very happy with this truck. Now to egt it maintained up to speed and do some little things like cluster lights, new stepper motor for the oil pressure gauge, a good steam cleaning, and other stuff. I usually remove seats and carpet and clean that way, but this truck just doesn't need it, so I figured I would put the Bissel steam cleaner to use and see what kind of results I get.
I have thought about doing this very thing. Having a diesel background, gauges are something I have a lot of with EGTs, Boost, etc. I was thinking oil pressure maybe coolant temp. I'll think it over.Food for thought....I added a mechanical oil pressure gauge my Burb as I didn't trust the dash gauge. With a couple of brass fittings and a mechanical gauge kit I piggy-backed it to the electric one at the crank pulley, now I have a trusted reading for the oil pressure.
My thoughts exactly. I was surprised the plugs were not that worn, but they were rusty and stuck in there. I wonder if they were original being AC Delco?Plugs weren't terrible, but that cap and rotor were due for sure!

Fun climbing over that engine to get to the dist.,huh? haha! Try it with a 6'' lift ,still love my Burb though.Glad you got yours running well. Finally got around to doing a major tune up yesterday. Wow, what a difference in idle quality and responsiveness. The exhaust smells different too. It doesn't smell "rich" anymore. I put up some photos of the original plugs, cap, and rotor. These had to be original with 157k miles on them.
I used Blue Streak 8.5 mm wires, GM Cap and Rotor, and MGK plugs. The wires that came off were some CarQuest junk. I am really happy with the results and the job was easier than I thought it would be.
