Kool as hell but it’s the old dash design mine is the newer last dash style so that might be worse or there might be another one that just happens to be a perfect fit since they both might be the off sizes they are?! Lol but definitely going to check out a few an I’ll post any that could work for my type of dash idk dimensions of old style dash

I saw this pic of someone on here that used a Kicker marine radio as in in-dash receiver. It's apparently a little smaller than a double DIN and fits better. If I didn't want my truck to look as stock as possible with Retrosound, I'd probably go with this. It's very clean looking, with no cutting of the original dash (it appears). It is somewhat pricey, though.
Seeing this I think I might make, or have someone make, a piece that move the ac controls down and put in a raspberry pi and touch touch screen

Yeah those marine decks are lil too small but probably perfect for older dash style! Plus I need to check it out in person first I’m old school like that lol especially when there’s modifications needed for it to work! Lol

Well, if it was me doing under back seat instead of center console. I would do multiple smaller drivers. Here's why......
Bass is just the action of moving air, so that's why a 15" sounds louder then an 8". It simply moves more air! So with that being said, instead of a 10" upwards or downwards firing,I would do (2) 6 1/2" forward facing. If you want (2) 10", then do (4) 6 1/2". Find the right driver and the box should be smaller and have the ability to be ported. With 10" or12" drivers there won't be enough airspace under the seat to get ported. Just have to put a tape measure on it and figure your airspace and that will tell you how many drivers..... and this is just my opinion.

These aren't a gmt400, but it will give you the idea.

The problem with small drivers is that they have a naturally high resonant frequency. This means they Will not efficiently play low bass unless you have a monster amplifier with lots of equalization. I design home theater systems and learned this a long time ago. One of my systems had a single 15 inch driver in a cabinet the size of a refrigerator. It would play down to 17 Hertz without much effort. This is the kind of base that you feel. You don’t hear it.

Not arguing at all, but can you explain why the frequency response on smaller subs isn't as low as on bigger ones? And doesn't that affect the sound?
Yes. Resonant frequency of the drivers. Bigger drivers always play lower at higher db levels given the same input. It’s a law of physics

But guys law of physical room is still not enough for huge subs let alone a big box for air space being guy said his tall. Bottom line is that he’s going to need to get creative on what he does unless he’s going to fork out the $$$ for a shop to build one! Which doesn’t seem likely an that’s kool but we all can only give so much advice on the topic since it’s his system on the cheap as I recall now so if his box building skills aren’t more than basic than there goes his budget or no system due to lack of car audio system building. No offense just stating what things maybe. Here’s pick of couple slim subs but I can’t imagine needing a ton of watts for a single cab an I love my music loud but it’s all gotta flow together vs just highs or bass one says 800w but Seems unlikely

I'm a long time bass player (started in 1965, still playing). In the early days we used mostly 12's and 15's. Then into 18's for a while. What has been discovered is that 10" speakers are the generally best for bass. Don't know why but they are. Used to use 400 watt amps and 15's and 18's. I now get a better sound out of two small, 25 watt amps each with a 10" speaker than every amp I've had in the past (had a lot of 'em). The sound tech usually has to tell me to turn down the two Fender 25B's that triple the sound when daisy chained. So I plan to use a couple of 10" bass guitar speakers for subs.
