System rundown

Pioneer AVH-X7700BT headunit
Helix M Six DSP w/ Conductor
Helix M One X
Front stage - 3" Blam LFR80 widebands and 6.5" Phoenix Gold Elite mids
Topping D10S (yet to be installed) to DSP via optic cable
Sub Stage - 2 10" JL W0s in an Atrend box (downfiring) under the rear seat
2/0 welding cable for power and ground
Upgraded all power and ground cables under the hood with 2/0 as well as a second battery w/ Cole Hersee smart isolator

System goals

Build is based off of SQ but being I'm a closet basehead, I will be upgrading the dual 10s to dual 12s this summer as well as building a custom floating amp rack behind the rear seat. I picked up a pair of nib PG Elite midbass drivers for stupid cheap and so far have impressed me. Had to fab up speaker spacers as they are fairly deep and there just isn't much room in the doors. Next step will be to fully deaden the inner and outer door skins as well as the door panel itself.

I knew from the start that I had to move the tweeters up higher as having them down by your knees was driving me crazy. I've done a couple sets of custom pillars in my last build ('18 F150) but the very narrow and shallow pillars in these trucks left me scratching my head. I wasn't too keen on possibly destroying the a-pillars especially since they are getting harder and harder to find so I decided to try out a wideband and ended up with a pair of 3" Blam LFR80s. Then, while browsing Aliexpress, stumbled on these pods. For a whopping $50 I couldn't go wrong (especially after pricing out aluminum pods on ebay that would cost almost 10x more).

I originally wanted to mount them up on the pillar but the damn dash said otherwise. Being that I had to install them as on-axis as possible, this was the next best thing and it turned out great.

Controlling and powering everything is a Helix M Six DSP w/built in amp for my front stage and then a Helix M One X for sub duties. Power is bridged to both 6.5s in the doors (200 watts a piece) and they take it and ask for more.

Just this past weekend I also installed a Helix Conductor in my overhead console.

I still have to deaden the rear wall and floor but mother nature hasn't been very cooperative so that will most likely be a summer project.

Final piece of the puzzle is a Topping D10s that is almost ready to be installed (just waiting for a long enough optic cable to arrive from Amazon).

Wow those tweeters are something else! Looks good but have you tried using gmt800 A pliers since they are newer more likely to find and have the tweeters in them? I was possibly going to go that route but never did. But I do get you on location but I guess it was easiest route for wiring “cheaper” to just put them on the door as they are lol. Here’s how I did mine. I first started with a Ford Fusion tweeters but just recently swapped them out for 98-04 sts Bose tweeters and the grills are burmester from Mercedes but the next time I go back to the pick n pull I’m a grab me a amp outta the sts an see if it’s interchangeable with my amp connection since sts’ pushed 425watts vs unknown in my Escalade.

Think of it as a more basic Director. You can control volume (main, digital in, etc), subwoofer volume, switch to different sound settings...I love the simplicity of it as it does a whole lot more than your usual bass knob.

Bit more progress this past weekend.

Installed a Topping D10S in the factory CD player location and began version 2 of my amp rack. Also have a beauty panel that covers everything but the faces of the amps hiding all the wiring. Going to paint the base grey and then have grey vinyl on order to cover the beauty panel (should arrive today with any luck).

Yes but real craftsmanship doesn’t worry of being seen you know that it’s sweet and done as it should be!! An the times you do show anyone they will be saying damn that’s nice! but just because something isn’t going to be seen doesn’t mean it’s not worthy of being done right!! I’m a insulator and that saying goes for most work we do.
