If it's not too great an imposition, could you take some good wide angle shots of that second tank set up and share them? I have contemplated doing something similar to the factory setup to increase range without sacrificing bed volume. Most of the OEM parts are NLA but it would still be a great point of reference.
I will, I got sidetracked over a rearend issue (I had to change out the rearend, which I posted my notes on.) As for a replacement tank, look at RV's that someone is parting out. The RV I got my rearend from had a fuel tank behind the axle, and as the chassis are the same all the bracketry should work. I will say that my aux tank is plastic, hence it cant rust out which is a plus plus. I still dont know if I am going to put it back in because there doesn't seem to be anywhere to mount a spare tire holder unless I custom build one.

If you look at the sides of the metal tank protector you will notice that there are two holes, on one side there is a flat bracket, the other just the holes. Dont torch off the studs and nuts like i did. Mine was so covered in dirt that I though they were strap accoutrements. After I cut the stud, nuts, and removed the dirt, I saw that it was a two bolt/stud plate supporting the tank protector.

Havent done anything on this due to its my only ride for now (and gas milage at 10 MPG sucks), but I had to plug off the auxiliary lines to keep them from pouring out fuel.

Definitely going to keep an eye on this thread. Not much info out there about dual fuel tank setups

I discovered the same thing while researching the dual tank setup for a troubleshooting effort.

For what it's worth I posted some factory wiring diagrams and some troubleshooting tips over
here. (LINK) Kind of a rare setup, and only a handful of people still care, but if this helps
someone out of a bind then it's worth it.

Cheers --
