Hello, long-time viewer first-time poster. I bought 1998 5.7 with around 200k going with what the guy I bought it from said. I swapped the engine in my truck and within 60 miles of driving it spun a rod bearing... I'm not going to rebuild or take the engine out again I'm just gonna swap them in the truck so I need some help as to who should get new bearings from and should I get +.010 under or should I get stock ones. I Also plan on polishing the crank using the shoelace method.

I like these.

But I think you are making a mistake by not pulling the engine.

A rod bearing spins when there is insufficient crush on the outer shell of the bearing insert.
So the rod is generally damaged as well as the crank.

Why would you only want it to last 10k? Normally, we would want a vehicle to last a lot longer than that.

This is an extremely sleazy way of selling a vehicle. 10k miles is just enough miles for the next owner to drive and for you to have plausible deniability that there was anything wrong when you sold it.

The person who sold you the truck was upfront and honest about the rod bearing problem, dont try to make a buck flipping somebody else's problem. Karma will come back on you at some point.

I want to get a little use of it for a bit till my bank account can handle rebuilding the whole engine this is the 3rd engine I've gotten in a 1yr 1st got a lifter knock and the second one I exploded a piston pulling a car trailer.

When I bought the engine the guy already pulled it and showed me a video of it running perfectly the previous weekend. Im keeping the truck till I die. I just want a little more use of the engine till I can afford to do a complete rebuild.
