Etecs are sold individually and AFRs by the pair. Last I checked Etecs were $1800/pair and AFRs $2000/pair.
Unless they have drastically increased in price since I have looked the Etecs were way more affordible than the AFR. I am not an AFR fan so I usually avoid them.

Etec 170 $901.50/ea or $1803.00/pair. AFR 912 $2001.96/pair. Both are a bit more expensive of late but they've been within $100 of that range for the last two years. Never heard a thing negative about AFR but I've also never used them. I've never heard a negative thing about Etecs either but I've also never used them. I have a 390 stroker that's presently only an unmachined block and rotating assembly. I'll put AFR 912s on it next year when I complete the build. But to each his own. But I do know that comparing the flow numbers Etec 170s are only marginally better than the vortecs on intake flow but notably better on exhaust. The AFR 912s crush on both.

Flow numbers are not everything. I have seen those Etecs make 485 hp on a 355 using Edelbrocks rolling thunder hydraulic roller cam. A little cleanup work pulled alot more airflow out of the 170s. I am sure the 190s are great heads also. Definately will require alot of work to make the intake match. My 383 has a solid 8-10 hours of work in the intake alone.

From my memory that was the one that had a piggyback pulley to the alternator? If so its a tiny supercharger and probe to belt slip. Ok for a stock engine but not any real power.

Well for starters I’m gonna ask a question that may sound stupid to everyone on here but me…but here it goes…lol
While I understand wanting low rpm torque in trucks…but when I say that I’m picturing 4x4’s, 3/4-1 tons…hauling/towing trailers etc…but I don’t really consider my Single Can SWB w the 4-6 drop to be a truck…lol
It is lighter than the other models but still a heavy vehicle. Are you using factory Injection? If so there are lmits to that. I found out quickly that a little less than ideal port size might hurt a little bit, however a little over will kill performance quickly. You must balance cfm to maximize velocity. Stick a Holley 1050 on a 350Ci motor and see how horrible is is. Back up to a 600 and it will come alive. The factory throttle bodies on any obs truck will limit port and cam sizes.
