When I got my 1996 K1500 last Fall, I noticed a cool feature of the front directional signal lamp operation. Let's talk about just one side for conversation: The two bigger front-facing bulbs would blink and alternate with the blink of the little 194 side lamp. i.e. both big bulbs blink once, go dark, then little side bulb blinks once and goes dark. Back and forth flashing. I rather liked it. Other side of front did same thing. For a while now I've had my grill and headlights off converting to '88/89 glass lamps. In checking front parking lights, etc., yesterday, i noticed the left side little dir. bulb was burned out. I looked in the book and determined it appears that is a factory #194 bulb. Replaced it. NOW, all three bulbs blink together. Same for both sides of truck. What the devil is this? Rats. I liked it the other way. What happened?

As you touched it, most likely you need to recheck your work first.

With park lights off, all three flash. With park lights on, they alternate. The 194 floats its ground between the park lamp filaments and the blinker filaments. Another way to say this is, the polarity reverses when you turn the park lights on.

AK...., ... I just went out and checked...
YOU'RE RIGHT !!!!
I never made the connection. Perhaps this '96 truck I just got is just too late model and fancy for me.......
Looks like everything is fine. No problems.
Thank you.
