Fixed my idle issue and EGR CEL. Found a vacuum / exhaust leak at the EGR. The EGR was tight, but not tight enough to fully seal. Went to tighten the bolts, and I ended up stripping them. That aluminum is sure soft. Fixed the threads with a helicoil and all is good now.

Still trying to go through the 2 year old fuel. The tires have noticeably smoothed out

Short list:
- Steering rebuild
- Fix broken exhaust manifold studs
- Gibson shorty headers
- 3" custom exhaust into Walker school bus muffler
- Re-tune

I like the original GMT-400 caps instead of the 800 caps that would have gone with the PYO's.

Time to rebuild the front end. The steering is pretty bad, wandering all over the road starting at 50mph. With 178k miles on what appears to be all OEM components, I figure I might as well redo everything.

I will likely not touch the steering box for awhile. Later down the road I would like to get a redhead box, though. All Moog parts are the problem solver line, and Mevotech is the TTX line. I already had the Moog upper ball joints on the shelf, so I'll use those until they go bad, then swap for Mevotech.

- Moog idler arm
- Moog idler arm bracket
- Moog pitman arm
- Moog upper ball joints
- Moog upper control arm bushings
- AC Delco OEM alignment hardware
- Mevotech lower ball joints
- Mevotech inner tie rods
- Mevotech outer tie rods
- Cunningham Machine tie rod sleeves

I should be getting around to installing everything in the next couple weeks. Looking forward to this one.

It was our anniversary today, and we thought why not do a bit of exploring through the mountains. The Burb felt great offroad, having way more traction than I ever remember my Sierra having. Don't let the pic fool you, there's tons of snow up there. We saw a few stranded vehicles, and one had actually slid down into a ravine.

With diesel emission issues to iron out on my work truck, I won't be able to get to the steering for a bit longer. Gotta keep the bills paid, eh?

Good news is that I looked into the EVO steering sensor being a potential problem... It absolutely was. I unplugged the sensor temporarily, and now the truck drives in a somewhat straight line. Crazy the difference it makes for sure. I have a new sensor on the way to fix it (don't want to delete it).

Good! EVO isn't the devil when it works properly. I get more assist in a parking lot and less on the highway than the earlier trucks. I ran with it disabled for years in my 1500. When I finally fixed it, it was the first time I ever experienced it working properly. There's no going back for me.

I really liked mine when it worked properly too. Unfortunately it started sticking in full boost all the time even with new column sensors in both trucks so I deleted it in both. :( Pretty sure the control modules in the dash are to blame somehow.

That or the solenoid on the pump decided not to play ball anymore, but I believe those are discontinued. I think the Evo brain is shared with the passlock.

Not much of an update here. Life has been busy, and business picking up. One of these days I'll set aside some time to get my damn steering done, but in the meantime.... shiny new parts are on the way!
