I have a 95 short bed 1500 that needs a lot of work. It has newer 275/60 15s in the rear. One in front wheel is cracked. The 10" rear wheels are in good shape but the wrong offset by a long shot, so they rub at times. I have found some steel 5x5 15x8 wheels with a 4-1/4 back spacing reasonable. I am hoping to get the rear tire inside the factory fender lip, (not needing to bang the crud out of it). Is 4-1/4 backspacing on a 15x8 wheel enough? If not there are other wheel choices, those just were the easiest on the budget.

15x8 wheel with a 4.25 backspace is -6.35mm offset, you will be fine.

Ok good to know, I did search here but the only backspacing reference I could find was a recomendation for 5" on a 15x8 wheel with a 275 tire.

Did more searching on another forum... posting the info here so its easier to find next time.
With a 275/60/15 on it now. ....On an OBS, I doubt 4" backspacing will tuck. I had 4.5" backspaced 8" Telstars, and they stuck out a little too far for my tastes. I only had a 2/4 drop at the time. I'd bet you'd need 5"+ back spacing.

4-1/4" backspace is not ideal on a 8 inch wide wheel even with a 4" drop in the rear . It needs to be around 4-3/4. With the 4" drop in the rear its OK with the inner lip tapped up. I knew better but the $67 each price and free shipping from Jegs was attractive. My other wheels were 3-1/2 backspace on 10 wide so this fits a lot better than that.

Is it possible to get a picture from the rear down the bedside? I am interested to see how it sits.

1/2" or so too far out to clear the inner fender lip. Its OK as long as I dont go any lower. For $67 each from Jegs, its OK

This is where I'm generally advising 5" on an 8" wheel for lowered applications regardless of tire size. Of course tire size does matter as well as amount of drop, and we're always rolling fender lips to some degree to be sure we have a margin allowing you to drive the way you want to without fear of chopping up your tires. 4.75" sounds OK, 5" would be better; some of the old school wheels were closer to 5.5" but I really don't know what is out there these days. Worst example are wheels for squarebodies which have a narrower track width and had near dead centerlines at 3.75"~4" and would destroy your fenders regardless of rolling the lip.
