Looking for any 454ss guys with first hand experience with long tube headers and ground clearance. I've been running 1 7/8 ****** super comps circa 1993 and they have worked well until I decided to go with a 4-6 drop. #7 tube on driver side is now a problem. I'm going to check if the one tube could be cut, lifted and patched back in but don't know if its worth the effort on 30 year old headers.I looked at all of Truckracers suggestions on the last 454 header post and see I have possibilities but some ground clearance info would be helpful. Thanks

That does look odd. It looks like it could have easily been pulled closer to and sort of in front of the #1 tube inboard of the control arm mount. I bet it could be done now - maybe even re-using the same tube with some cutting and angle fitting matching. These days all anyone makes are short tube headers.

From that angle, it looks like the extra loop goes around the lower A-arm. Do you have enough room to fit in a 4th tube without melting the bushing?

Update. Brought it to the local shopped he cut and welded that single pipe. Ground clearance now is just over 3 inches. Saved me a lot of problems by not having to get new headers.
