Since you're moving to TX, as a bandage fix you could use this:
xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
then do what @BeXtreme mentioned when you're settled in. I haven't had any luck with aftermarket distributors. Bought one off Summit and it was bad right out of the box. Couldn't tell until it was installed of course... costed me 2 hrs of shop labor.
I like that bracket and a 411 swap is high on my list of potential changes once I’m out from under the visual inspection and smog test thumb. However since TX also doesn’t charge through the nose for vehicle registration, I can just get a commuter car and the Suburban sit most of the week while I‘m in school (grad school). For a weekend and specific task vehicle, I’m not sure its warranted, especially reading some of the trouble getting the K2500 stuff to work again. Maybe I just didn’t read far enough in the swap threads and that’s all be worked out.
Feel bad calling BET up and asking if I could buy one and then never call back but such is business I guess.
Choices…

P.S. Sorry to rub it in Curt and not sorry to Texans about moving home with California home sale proceeds.

I’m making the assumption that the Dorman bracket actually does fit the 454 distributor despite the listings. Cheap enough to try.

That's gonna be a nice change of pace not having SMOG and visual. We actually just moved out of the bay last year as well. Used to be in San Ramon but moved more towards Camino. We were contemplating moving out of state, but couldn't leave the weather and features California has to offer (being so close to the beach, snow, AND lakes). Either ways, we love it up here and it's refreshing to escape that fast paced living of the Bay Area. Not to mention escaping all the self-entitled, "my sh*t smells better than yours" people in the Bay. Even though my family has lived there for quite a while, we never felt like we fit in there. Feels like home over here. I wish you well in your travels and hope Texas works out for you!

I actually posted that in between my classes and didn't check for compatibility. According to Dorman's website it looks like it wont work for the 454 distributor sorry.

Have we ever figured out what is different on the 454 distributor? I'll get the bracket tomorrow and try it out. Hard to go bad wrong for $12 at the local AutoZone.

I grew up in TX so it really is moving home. That said we’re really going to miss the terrain and weather here in CA; mountains especially. We really do like mountains and you have to go a good ways from College Station to get them. There’s some “I need to leave CA“ in my choice but most of it is “I need to get closer to my family” as my parents and grandmother still live in Central TX and I’ve not lived near them since the 90’s when I joined the Air Force. Getting a PhD is definitely good for my career.

Feedback on the bracket this afternoon. Still worried about my distributor gear none the less.

What program are you going for in PhD?

Just starting or already working on a specific project? Was just curious, slowly working on PhD in Nuclear my self. Just have not taken the qualifier yet.

Not in CA I can't but since I'm moving to TX in the summer, tell me more. I have broken cap ears so something needs to be repaired and at. 200k miles I bet the gear is nearly worn through.

I called BET today and they have them on the shelf minus the cam gears. He's getting them drilled and reamed this week so he can assemble at least one and I'm probably pulling the trigger on it.
Texas!
