I'll admit on 45 if your not keeping up with traffic its kill or be killed. Shoot I was coming home on 45 in Huntsville and was doing 85/90mph. Freaking people were passing me like I was going 65mph. It felt like ping pong had to keep moving left lane, right lane, left lane, rightlane. And it was numerous vehicles. That's the biggest reason I set the mph so high on the burb. So I can actually move if I have to. But in my case lifted burbs dont tend to handle like a Corvette above 100mph......My speed limiter is set to somewhere around 200 MPH. I have had my truck well over 100 MPH, more times than I can count. These trucks have no issues handling high speeds. That being said, my truck is in pristine condition. Also I am not doing these speeds in traffic, unless everyone is doing the same thing. Try driving in Houston TX. If your not doing at least 90, you'll get run over. You can drive fast, with out being reckless, as long as your vehicle is in good condition. It amazes me, just how well these trucks do handel speeds up, and over 100 MPH, or at least mine does anyway.
If your going fast enough, it won't down shift into 3ed. At least my truck won't anyway.What's the fastest a 5.7l Vortec Suburban will do in OD (before it down-shifts to 3rd)?
Not sure on that one but since it was brand new the suburban will hit 97mph and the rpms will be around 3k. Once you hit 98mph it will bog down to about 95mph and repeat the process. If I'm not mistaken the od get disabled at that high of rpms and speed.... now btw the guage will say 100mph but from my experience that's how much off the speed is to actual speed.
