Planning on swapping out the tired 5.7 for a 383 stroker from S&J Engines. Looking for a set of long tube headers to put on it, what’s the best brand to go with? How are the ebay headers?

JBA long tubes on my 383. Nice headers but you’ll have to tweak the transmission shift linkage to clear. Several people have reported this. I’m not sure why they didn’t just have them drop down another 1/4” and they would fit perfectly without screwing around but that’s aftermarket for you.

The truck does have a 3 inch body lift on it. Not sure if that changes anything. Talked to my local exhaust guy and he said it’s probly best to install the headers on the motor before dropping into the engine bay. Is that correct?

Perhaps a moderator will move this thread to the EXHAUST sub-forum.

I've never seen an engine installation go smoothly when the headers are already installed on the cylinder heads.

I would expect generic "eBay" headers to be Communist Chinese knockoffs.

Long tubes with IFS 4x4 and four O2 sensor OBDII system? Doable, but costly on a 20+year old truck. Best of luck.
How about settling for shorties and a free flowing cat-back?

I swapped to a Holley Sniper on a Summit-branded (Weiand) square-bore dual plane intake. TBI engine with Vortec heads.
